Frustration
as Interior Space The assignment was to use light and dark in an interior space. I decided to interpret the word "light" as weight instead of just illumination. And so the objects I chose to compose in this still life were a black balloon, a black feather, and a black piece of paper crumpled up. The title comes from my frustration with my classwork at the time, feeling my balloon of creativity was trapped in a corner, my quill of writing pinned to a wall, and my paper of artwork so badly done it was crumpled up and thrown away. Fortunately, the execution of the drawing was wonderful, so that made me feel good. And the compliments I got on it from my talented fellow students (especially the ones in the "fine" art studio majors) made me feel even better. |
