Mirrors are often used as scrying tools, much like a crystal ball, especially a mirror with obsidian glass or with a black backing. Of course, as with any kind of divination, it is not what your eyes see that necessarily gives you the answers you seek: it is your inner eye. The dark mirror is used to look within, to see how life on the inside differs from the outside, and to see who is looking back at you from out of the darkness.
